Introducing the Inclusive School Award
Supporting Inclusive Practice - Increasing Life Chances
An inclusive school gives all pupils – regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, achievements, or background – equal opportunities to succeed. Inclusive education is vitally important to create an environment where pupils, staff and the wider school community can achieve their full potential and build a brighter future for all.
Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) provides schools with a nationally recognised framework to celebrate the steps they are taking to be inclusive. This process begins with the Inclusive School Award. Schools initially complete a Self Evaluation Report, this is then followed by a visit from one of our Assessors. After successfully securing the Inclusive School Award, schools can then progress to become an IQM Centre of Excellence.
Over 6,500 schools have either received the Inclusive School Award or are currently working towards it. This includes schools in Ireland, north and south, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, The Cayman Islands, Thailand, Colombia, and many more.
IQM has been working with schools across the world to promote inclusion for 20 years. The company is ideally placed to help your school secure recognition for the amazing work you are doing to promote inclusion in Irish schools and give your students a better future.

Inclusive School Award
The Inclusive School Award recognises the ongoing commitment of schools in Ireland to provide the very best education for all children, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, or background.
Once you have registered your school, you will be asked to complete a Self Evaluation Report, looking at how inclusion is central to every aspect of daily life in your school. After this is completed, an Assessor will visit your school over the course of one or two days. They will compile a comprehensive report which will be fed back to you along with your Inclusive School Award.

IQM Centre of Excellence
Centre of Excellence recognises those IQM Inclusive Schools which continue to demonstrate a commitment to outstanding levels of inclusive best practice. Centre of Excellence status provides an opportunity to build on current capacity with ongoing support from the IQM team. This will be reviewed annually against pre-agreed targets with support and advice to help the school to move forward in terms of its inclusive practice.
